The members of Ferrum Chapter 1848 were delighted to arrange a 50th certificate presentation to their longest standing member, Alan Pattison, recently.

Alan had joined masonry in 1970 being initiated into the Saltscar Lodge in Redcar, later becoming a member of the Coatham daylight lodge and received his 50 year certificate in the Craft accordingly.

For some time Alan has not been able to attend his lodge or chapter but always maintained both his membership and interest. Three members of Ferrum Chapter arranged to visit Alan at the home of his daughter, who kindly made them most welcome with tea and cake.

Denis Stubley our Past Provincial Second Grand Principal, accompanied by the chapter Scribe E, Brian Lewis and his brother, David, the chapter Almoner sat with Alan for the morning chatting about his life in general and his masonic days in particular. It was apparent that Alan was enjoying reminiscing, as were his visitors.
