Bro Wilfred Slater, a WWII veteran who survived being shot in both legs, passed away on April 27, 2023. Wilfred’s great grandson, John Benson, made a social media request to increase the number of mourners to attend Wilfred's funeral.

W.Bro Andy Hinchcliffe, WM of Invictus Lodge, and E.Comp Mark Iveson 3PGP responded to the request and joined numerous other mourners, including serving and retired military personnel also answering the call to attend the funeral.

The funeral was held on May 22, 2023 at Haltemprice Crematorium, Hull with a small motorbike escort, a piper, and 13 regimental standards displayed. The coffin, draped in a Union Flag, was carried into the chapel, where a large group of people gathered outside after lining the drive for his arrival.
