Through the generous sponsorship given by members of the Lodge of St Germain, Bros. Liam Howley and David Bryan raised £695 for Festival 29.
David writes: "An early start, carrying plenty of water and food, meant that we reached the top of Pen-y-Ghent (2,227 ft) at 06.45, whilst the weather was still relatively cool. Over the next 12 miles, the day warmed up and we reached Whernside (2,415 ft) at 11.30 and a welcome stop for lunch. Going down Whernside and across to Ingleborough was definitely a challenge, with the heat and the downhill sections meaning that we had to adopt a steady pace. Arriving at the summit of Ingleborough (2,372 ft) and it’s almost lunar landscape at 14.40, we took another break and then headed back to the start. The downhill section again proved tricky for me, and as we were about 3 miles from the car, we were met by a runner who was suffering due to the heat and lack of fluids. We gave him a bottle of water, made sure he was OK, and he soon recovered and went on his way. We completed the challenge and headed home, and with Liam’s support, peanut butter sandwiches, and excellent company, I can honestly say that the challenge was well worth it." Congrats to both!
