Morgan House, in Boosbeck near Saltburn, is a new Armed Forces Veterans facility which opened in November 2025, and on 2nd December became part of the ‘Masonic Aware’ initiative.
Masonic Aware has been introduced to help Freemasons and their families, and also those with no Masonic connection, with the support and assistance they may need. St Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough was the first facility to become Masonic Aware, and this now extends to 7 other Hospices in this and surrounding Provinces. It is hoped that the idea will spread further during 2026.
The idea expanded to Care and Nursing Homes with the first being Cayton View Care Home in Scarborough. Other similar facilities are now considering the benefits of the scheme.
Morgan House, is a Unit set up for Veterans who have fallen on difficult times where they can get the direct help they need from the operator https://healthierheroescic.co.uk/morgan-house .
The building was the former Primary school in the village and has been restored from dereliction by Keith and Laura Rutherford and offered for use by Healthier Heroes to enable them to provide their services not only to their residents, but also others in a similer situation on a day-to-day basis. Other facilities exist in Lancashire, but this is the first in Yorkshire, which fits perfectly with our Masonic Community Engagement objectives and the Armed Forces Covenant.
TOn the day, the sun shone and the Masonic Aware Plaque, sponsored by De Brus Lodge No. 4244, was jointly unveiled by VW Bro Bill Glanville, Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Andy Powell, Managing Director of Healthier Heroes CIC and a Master Mason.
In attendance were W Bro Martin Eggermont, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, plus 11 other YNER Masons and their wives and partners, along with a number of other invited guests.
