Community Engagement and Armed Forces Covenant support combined in a day of Speed, Smiles and Solidarity…
On a slightly damp Tuesday morning on Tuesday 19 August, Freemasons from across our Province gathered to support another Mission Motorsport event at Croft Circuit near Darlington.
Mission Motorsport’s annual Forces Family Track Day is solely for family members of the Armed Forces —a celebration of resilience, camaraderie, and high-octane fun.
The event welcomed serving personnel, veterans, families, and the bereaved for a full day of motorsport thrills and family-friendly activities. On the track, passenger rides offered exhilarating laps in everything from classic hatchbacks to roaring supercars—including McLarens and Mustangs. Whilst on the trackside, young drivers took the wheel of a Mazda MX-5 under expert guidance, experiencing the thrill of driving in a safe, controlled environment.
At the heart of the event was the Family Village where we had been allocated a prominent position for the Provincial gazebo surrounded by:
- Veteran-owned businesses and local charities showcasing their work
- Reserve units engaging visitors with interactive displays
- Children enjoying games, crafts, and car-themed fun
Our team of attendees was reinforced by 3 Widows Sons who had braved a very wet ride to get there and whose amazing motor bikes gave us much needed street cred.
This event wasn’t just about horsepower—it was about healing. Mission Motorsport continues to use motorsport as a powerful tool for rehabilitation, skill-building, and community connection. For many attendees, the day offered a rare chance to bond, recharge, and feel supported.
On the track, a team from Anchor Lodge which included qualified Track Marshalls were in attendance to help safely supervise the constant stream of amazing track cars and their excited passengers.
Whilst the weather on the day was less than ideal, all the attendees had an amazing day, the date for a repeat next year is set and as Freemasons we were delighted to be able to be these and show our support.
