A memorable evening at Minster Lodge, York on Thursday 25 June 2026 saw the Brethren celebrate a truly remarkable milestone as W. Bro. Mike Thorpe received his 50-Year Certificate in Freemasonry.
The Provincial Grand Master, Mark Iveson, accompanied by a team of Active Provincial Officers, reflected on Mike’s fascinating life and Masonic journey before inviting him to share some of his own memories and experiences.
When asked what Freemasonry had given him over the past 50 years, Mike’s answer was simple but powerful: “Friendship.” It was a sentiment that resonated with everyone present and perfectly captured the spirit of the evening. The Provincial Grand Master then presented Mike with a certificate to mark this wonderful occasion.
Congratulations, Mike, on reaching this outstanding milestone. Thank you for your fifty years of dedication, service and friendship. Here’s to many more happy years in Freemasonry.
