As we approach the end of Autumn, we reflect even more on “giving” with events such as Remembrance Day and “Children in Need” amongst others coming to the fore. It is also time for Eboracum Lodge’s latest charity donation as part of their monthly charitable giving programme and so its November £500 donation is to the small local York charity, the Snappy Trust.
Snappy was established in May 1985 and celebrated its forty first anniversary this year. It is dedicated to maximising the personal development of children and young people who have a wide range of disabilities. There are over three hundred families who currently appreciate the help and support provided for them.
Snappy provides a community, rich in resources, that meet the needs of the children and young people who attend. Alongside this, they offer opportunities for them to explore new activities and gain life skills that may not be easily accessed elsewhere. Their wide mix of activities is designed to encourage personal growth and development. This community environment ensures that the children and young people can learn, develop and have fun with the same feeling and tone as their mainstream peers.
As a small charity, they rely heavily upon the fundraising efforts of their supporters and raising these funds is proving more difficult as everyone” tightens their belts” so Snappy were very grateful for the donation which will help them continue their crucial work.
