Eboracum “Sisters” Lunch

Sisters Christmas lunch

Eboracum brethren very much believe that it is very important to always keep in close contact with its Sisters of the Lodge (widows of the brethren who have departed to the Grand Lodge above) to ensure that they are well and to see if they are in need of any assistance.

This involves not only regular contact by the Lodge Almoner but also inviting them to functions including quarterly lunches at the Lodge. It shows how important this is to them when they say how much they love coming to the Lodge as it reminds them of the wonderful times they had with their husbands at lodge functions.

This year’s Sisters’ Christmas lunch at St. Saviourgate proved extremely popular with ten of the eleven Sisters of the Lodge attending and being joined by the Worshipful Master George Urwin and twenty three brethren, friends and family. After a splendid three course Christmas lunch, carols were sung under the direction of the Lodge’s musical maestro Nigel Holdsworth following which the Worshipful Master ably assisted by Paul James distributed Christmas cards, gifts, vouchers and kisses to all the Sisters. What a fantastic way to start Christmas and thanks go to David Bowman and Steve Boden for organizing it. It was a wonderful happy occasion, greatly enjoyed by everyone leaving them looking forward to more at the first lunch in 2025.
