The Worshipful Master congratulating W.Bro. David Broadhead on his special occasion

January’s Lodge meeting was a very special occasion for W.Bro. David Broadhead, a senior member of Eboracum Lodge who has been a member for 45 years.

To celebrate his 90th birthday, he was supported by 50 brethren including W.Bro. Mark Iveson, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and his team of Provincial Officers as the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Jim Cooper vacated his chair allowing W. Bro. David to take over and obligate Bro. Sam Tumelty during an excellent 2nd degree ceremony. W.Bro. David then generously presented a Tyler’s sword to the Lodge before handing back control of the ceremony to the Worshipful Master.

Following the ceremony, the brethren moved downstairs and sat down to an excellent “Burns Night” festive board. Bro. Paul Johnson was piped in as he presented the Haggis following which W. Bro. Des McKenzie enthusiastically gave the “Address to the Haggis” ably assisted by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and his Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Simon Simpson. The atmosphere throughout was vibrant with the brethren thoroughly enjoying themselves with a sense of togetherness, warm friendship and conviviality throughout. The evening finished with “Auld Lang Syne” after which happy brethren departed on their journeys home in “Peace, Love and Harmony”.
