Eboracum Installation

1

Eboracum Lodge recently held its installation where the Worshipful Master George Urwin installed Brother Jim Cooper into the chair of King Solomon on which proved to be a very special night for new Master as he took his first craft chair following his 40 years in Craft Masonry.

Following the usual Eboracum warm welcome, the Temple was bursting with 80 brethren including our own Assistant Provincial Grand Master Worshipful Brother Steve Cox with his team of active officers, the Provincial Grand Master of West Yorkshire, several Provincial heads from different orders along with brethren from over 20 lodges. It was a sight to behold.

A highlight of the ceremony included Worshipful Brother Stan Aylott's superb rendition of "Be Thou Faithful unto Death", which had not been heard at an Eboracum Installation for a long time.

The appropriate musical ditties were played by the organist, Bro. Nigel Holdsworth during the investment of the officers, all the “progressive” offices being filled by brethren still to reach the Chair.

Following the ceremony, the brethren moved downstairs where 70 brethren stayed for an excellent festive board. The atmosphere was relaxed yet vibrant, with a sense of togetherness and warm friendship and conviviality throughout. Toasts were made, responses received and the Master's song emotionally received.

The Worshipful Master stressed the importance of “teamwork” as he, his officers and brethren move forward into the Lodge’s special 150th anniversary year and with new candidates to be initiated and many ceremonies on the horizon.

The evening was then over and happy brethren departed on their journeys home in “Peace, Love and Harmony”.
