Zetland Lodge 561 Guisborough - In memory of WBro Alec Smith
On Saturday 11th November 2023 thirteen charities from the local area were invited to receive donations to help with on going projects.
The evening commenced with introduction from Worshipful Master of Zetland lodge, Wbro Barry Dawson, and provincial representative Wbro Martin Eggermont.
All the charities were nominated by the brethren and two representatives from each charity were in attendance
After the presentation of cheques had concluded, the Zetland lodge charity steward, WBro Andy Hill, thanked all of the Zetland brethren and their wives for helping to organise the night, and thanked the charity representatives for attending and making the night a great success.
£8,700 was donated to the following charities-
- Guisborough Town Council (WBro Ian Williams )
- Monty Dodsworth -Yorkshire Cricket Club Junior (Bro Geoff Dodsworth)
- Guisborough Swimming Club (WBro John Buckworth)
- Childrens A&E Department James cook hospital (WBro Andy Hill)
- Senses Special Educational Needs (Bro Brian Gent )
- Guisborough Priory Project (WBro Barry Dawson)
- Rubies - Trauma support for girls (WBro Brian Whitfield)
- Guisborough Youth Rugby Club (WBro JJ Wilson )
- Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (WBro John Dear)
- Vasculitis (Bro Keith Prior)
- James Cook Holistic Cancer Care unit (WBro Ged Demoily)
- New Marske Barn owl scouts(WBro Martin Eggermont)
- Blood Bikes (WBro Barry Dawson)
The closing remarks were given by WBro Martin Eggermont who thanked Zetland lodge members and announced a grand total of £36,700 donated to local charities in the last 2 years.
