Like so many other Lodges Anchor Lodge are always looking for new Social Events to bring together brethren, families, and friends, and to raise some money for good causes in the area.
So when one of our younger and newer brothers Mark Ellams, suggested a beer tasting event the response was overwhelmingly, get on and organise it then!
Which is how on Friday 21st of November brethren, families, and friends came together for an evening of serious contemplation when representatives from Theakstons Brewery visited.
Those present were treated to an interesting presentation regarding the brewing process and history of Theakstons Brewery, by none other than W.Bro Stewart Burrows of Beresford Peirce Lodge, who is also a tour guide at the brewery.
Following which the tasting began with several beers ranging from light to dark, even including 'nowt peculier', which is alcohol free, and even a cider. Each accompanied by a tasting platter of meats, cheese and crackers to complement each beer, arranged by Mark's partner Natalie. Which all enjoyed.
The evening continued with a quiz and a raffle, and perhaps just a few more tastings. Which resulted in the sum of £283 being raised and donated to Andy's Man Club in Thirsk to support Men's Mental Health in the local area.
Suffice to say a good result all round and no doubt it won't be too long before we do it all again!
