On 24 February Albert Victor Lodge was host to a fraternal visit by six members of St. John’s Lodge No. 1, Ancient York Masons, New York City, NY.
The visitors included RWBro Piers A. Vaughan, who is Deputy General Grand High Priest of the Mid-Atlantic Region; he is also Past Master St. John’s Lodge No. 1, AYM; Past Secretary St. John’s Lodge No. 1, AYM; Past Grand Director of Ceremonies Grand Lodge of New York; Honorary Past Grand Junior Deacon Grand Lodge of District of Columbia; Past Grand First Principal of New York State.
Also in the party was WBro Benjamin Lynn, the current Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 1. The Lodge also welcomed WBro Chris Thomas, APGM in Charge of Yorkshire N&E Ridings who warmly welcomed the visitors to the Province.
The evening saw a wonderful presentation on the history of Freemasonry in York by Albert Victor Secretary Mike Curley, who also gave a detailed explanation of the origins of Duncombe Place and the Lodge room. A large number of artifacts from the history of the Lodge were on display and prompted much interest. At the Festive Board WBro Lynn presented the Lodge with a copy of the Washington Inauguration Bible, and WBro Curley reciprocated with a number of copies of artifacts that had been on display. We hope they visit us again soon!
