Saturday July 11th, the 14th annual Acklam lodge summer walk took place, members and friends completing the 7 mile yomp across the Esk valley in the North York Moors from Goathland to Egton via the 8 public houses along the route.
The day really had it all, from buses with flat tyres to entertainment that unexpectedly didnβt turn up, it didnβt dampen the mood of the 150 strong team however as they bravely battled through by staying hydrated (perhaps a little too hydrated) to complete the hike up the infamous Egton bank, an almost 1 mile 1 in 4 hill to the final watering hole at the top.
The glitch with the entertainment back at Roman Road proved no more than a minor hiccup as the remaining team settled in to watch England progress through to the semi finals of the World Cup.
A momentous and successful day all round.
