Friday the 26th of May was indeed a special occasion at Anchor Chapter 1337 in Northallerton, for it was then during their regular convocation that a presentation to mark 60 Years Continuous Service not just to Royal Arch Masonry, but more especially to Anchor Chapter was made to E.Comp Michael James Herbert Osgathorp. PAGDC. PProvGSN.
Mike, as everyone knows him was exalted into Anchor Chapter on the 29th of March 1963, having been initiated, passed and raised within Beresford Pierse Lodge in nearby Bedale on 15th of March 1962, and as Beresford Peirse did not have their own chapter at the time it was Anchor Chapter who benefited from Mike’s membership, although on the 6th of April 1988, that situation was rectified with Mike becoming a founder member of Beresford Peirse Chapter. And so, it was fitting that the current Z, E.Comp Charles Mawer, H, E.Comp Mark Pybus, and IPZ, E.Comp Paul Baker, from that Chapter were present to witness Mike’s Presentation.
Following the presentation of the certificate and lapel badge by E.Comp Stephen Robinson PAGSoj. who had travelled across from Liverpool for the evening. All present were able to hear about and share some of Mike’s journey from Exaltee to Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1999, also holding Provincial Ranks of Provincial Grand Registrar 1990, Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah in 1991, both within the Province of Yorkshire North and East Ridings along the way. Along with some thoughts and reflections of the many changes within Chapter masonry since that time.
The evening was rounded off by those present joining Mike for a lively festive board, carried out in usual Anchor Chapter Style, with pleasure and profit being the result.
Anchor Lodge would like to express their thanks not only to E.Comp Mike for his continued support of the chapter, but also to E.Comp Steve Robinson for the way he conducted the presentation, and also E.Comp Chris Barker who acted as Chauffeur on the evening to enable Mike to attend and enjoy his special night in Chapter Masonry.
