Members of the Old Guisborian Lodge 7793 held their 2nd annual charity event opening Guisborough Masonic Hall to the public in support of the Guisborough Branch, Royal British Legion.
Lodge members, Bros Jack Horner, Ben Harrison, W Bro Paul Reed and W Bro Martin Eggermont supported by ex-Royal Navy veteran and local friend Emma Jane West, tirelessly organised another hugely successful charity event raising £2317 for RBL.
Commencing at 0900 resident chef Andy Marsden served breakfast buns and hot beverages all provided free for veterans and serving personnel, the public and local freemasons for a small donation.
The lodge temporarily closed at 1030 for all to join the Remembrance parade and pay their respects to those who have made the Supreme Sacrifice.
At 1230 the lodge doors reopened and the visitor's enjoyed drinks, a quality buffet provided by W Bros Keith Riches and Andrew Walker (WM), a raffle and an auction of many superb, donated prizes plus lively entertainment from guest singer Abby Faye.
Throughout the day several guests showed an interest in becoming Freemasons and were escorted into the lodge where they heard a presentation, were able to ask questions and were astounded to hear facts of what Freemasonry is about and what it does for non-masons as well as its members.
A fantastic day ending at 1600 was had by all, and substantial favourable feedback was received from those who attended.
Huge thanks and appreciation for their sponsorship to Selectiv Properties (Guisborough), to Zetland Masonic Hall Committee and the OGL brethren and wives for their support and really so many who helped and supported the event on the day.
