Juno Lodge No10001 is the University Scheme Lodge for the Province of Yorkshire North and East Ridings, and linked to the University of Hull. It is a member of the Association of Medical, University & Legal Lodges  (AMULL).

At Installation day at Juno, academic gowns and hoods are allowed to be worn by those entitled, and the high number this year made for a unique and colourful spectacle.

At the after meeting W Bro James Steele ProvAGDC, in his capacity as Provincial Universities Scheme Coordinator presented a short lecture ‘An introduction to the Universities Scheme’ to the brethren and was presented with the ‘Thomas Ferens Lecture Shield’ by the Worshipful Master.

Now to explain the title of this article. At the after meeting I was siting next to a young man, obviously newly into freemasonry. I inquired of his introduction: was it a family connection, a friends suggestion, reply to fb or webpage contact page. None of these. He lives in Hull and was walking by and the front door of the lodge was open. He decided to come in off the street and make enquiry. The rest as they say is history. Shows the importance of keeping the Lodge door open ! ( I am in a Saltburn lodge and with the wind that sometimes comes along the Esplanade this is not always practical.)
