On Tuesday 27th July 2021, our first full meeting following the Pandemic, Londesborough Lodge No 734 was honoured by the presence of the then Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Bro. Dr. David Chambers PGSwdB. He had a very special task to perform, namely to present W. Bro. Edward Gordon Taylor PPJGW with a certificate marking the very commendable achievement of having being a Freemason for 60 years.
Edward was Initiated into Concord Lodge No. 4126 (Yorkshire, West Riding) on 8th June 1961, becoming Master in 1973. He moved to the Bridlington area in 1986 and became a joining member of Londesborough Lodge No. 734 on 1st September 1992. He was appointed to the rank of PPSGD in May 1998 under Rule 69, taking the pivotal office of Lodge Treasurer in 2002, a role in which he served the lodge for many years. He was subsequently promoted to PPGSwdB in 2003 and PPJGW in 2008.
He continues to be a well respected elder statesman in the Lodge and fills his leisure time continuing his quest to master the game of golf at Flamborough Head Golf Club, which is a challenging course, given it's exposed location.
The occasion was further marked by the presentation of a special gift from our Scottish Fraternal Brothers of the Wilsontown Ironworks St. John Lodge No. 236, who meet at Forth in Lanarkshire. They sent an engraved pocket watch for Edward in commemoration of this singular event, shown in our picture.
