Big Band at Middlesbrough

The festive spirit was in full swing at Middlesbrough Masonic Hall on 11th December. North York Lodge 602 member Laird Sky, a Licentiate of London College of Music and a leader of a Jazz Big Band, organised a Christmas Concert both for freemasons and the wider community.

A wonderful evening of Jazz Big Band music included classics from Duke Ellington, Miles Davis right up to contemporary pop hits by the B52’s as well as some lovely seasonal Christmas classics such as 'Santa Baby' and 'Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas'.

The event was so successful that extra tables had to be laid on, and a wedding booking was taken by the band on the night! The great success of the event has prompted a decision to make it an annual occurrence.
