On the 27 July 2021 Londesborough Lodge No. 734 resumed with a particularly pleasant event, namely the presentation of a 60 Years in Freemasonry Certificate to W. Bro. Edward Taylor PPJGW.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master VW. Bro. David Chambers PGSwdB, accompanied by a team of Active Provincial Officers acted as the interrogator, coaxing the recall of a lifetime of memories down the years. Originally born in Holmfirth, he commenced his Masonic career being Initiated into Concord Lodge No. 4126 in Huddersfield. He moved to the Bridlington area in 1986 and became a joining member of Londesborough Lodge in 1992. In 1998 he was given the Provincial Rank of PPSGD under Rule 69, progressing to PPJGW in 2008. He has been a great servant of the Lodge, particularly in the role of Treasurer.
Our friends from Wilsontown Ironworks St. John No. 236 (Scottish Constitution) were unable to be present on the night, but sent an engraved Masonic pocket watch and a framed copy of Robert Burns ‘The Mason’s Apron’, which was delivered in the appropriate dialect at the Festive Board by our newest member, Bro. Colin Smith, which prompted the man of the hour to make a rare impromptu speech of thanks.
Edward finished the proceedings by inviting everyone present to his 70th!
