For the third year in a row, “York Unlocked” welcomed residents and visitors to explore and enjoy over 50 of York’s buildings and open spaces during the weekend of the 5th and 6th October.
Following last year’s success, Eboracum and Minster Lodges once again opened the St Saviourgate Masonic Hall and took another opportunity to let visitors know more about what Masonry entails.
Visitors including some as a result of the University’s “Freshers Fair” were enthusiastically directed towards the Hall by W. Brother Alastair Heaton where they were welcomed by members of Eboracum and Minster Lodges and representatives from Women’s Freemasonry. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided before the visitors embarked on the tour of the building.
The visitors expressed a great deal of interest as they were shown around, listening to details about the history of the building and of course satisfying their curiosity with questions and answers about Masonry itself. It was also nice to hear so many visitors commenting on the excellent background music being played by W. Brother Nigel Holdsworth, the Eboracum organist and his friends.
The whole weekend was again a success with over 700 visitors and only positive comments being heard so thanks must go to all those involved.
