YES! YOU WILL GO TO THE JAMBOREE!

A chance meeting in a local supermarket, between two freemasons and the leader of Derwent Valley Scouts resulted in David Chambers (PGM) and Cedric Thornton (Charity Steward St Nicholas Lodge 2586). agreeing to try to seek funding for a much-needed mess/kitchen Jamboree marquee.

St Nicholas Lodge 2586 agreed to contribute £1485 from their “Baz Fund”*. Royal Chapter 643 and Denison Lodge 1248 quickly agreed to join forces and, under the guidance of their charity stewards, Tom Tomlinson and David Walton, a further £1000 was found. A successful application produced a grant from FCYNER, bringing the donation total to £3515. The pictures were taken at a recent test-run. The marquee is British made from high quality weather/fire resistant material. A solar-powered battery pack, also provided, ensures that lighting is available in the remotest of locations. Appropriate logos will be attached to the marquee as a final touch to show masonic support.

  • The St Nicholas Lodge “Baz Good Fund” was established following receipt of a bequeathment from Past Master Baz Good, to help young people in the Scarborough area.
