Cayton View Care Home in Eastfield, Scarborough has been launched as the first "Masonic Aware" Care Home.

"Masonic Aware" is an inititative to support Freemasons and families within the care environment, supporting residents in maintaining contact with Freemasonry should they so wish. This latest step in the initiative follows on from the launch by Sir David Wootton in March 2025 of St Catherine's Scarborough as the first "Masonic Aware" Hospice.

On 2 October Provincial Grand Master David Chambers was joined by members of the Province, partners and friends and by managers Leah Moon and Tobyn Danforth for the unveiling of the dedicatory plaque.

During the morning visitors were able to tour the most impressive faciltiies available to residents. The en-suite rooms are complemented by a dedicated hair salon, cafe and a cinematic TV room.

David Chambers commented: "Our hope and aspiration is that this initiative increases like a tsunami, and that Masonic Aware is picked up and taken forward, not just in Yorkshire, North & East Ridings."

Tobyn Danforth said: "We're delighted to be the first Masonic Aware care home in the country, and indeed the whole world. Like you we hope that this is going to be the start of a growing partnership."

During the morning a cheque presentation was made by Cornerstone Lodge to representatives of Inspire North - Emma Pickles and Jayne Carter - in support of their charitable activity in the areas of mental health, dementia, homelessness and domestic abuse.
